Recently, the waterway construction project of the Changhu Shen Line (Jiangsu-Zhejiang Provincial Boundary - Beijing-Hangzhou Canal Section) undertaken by CCCC Third Harbor Bureau was completed.

The CHSX-HD1 bid section for the construction and remediation of CCCC Third Harbor Bureau starts from Nanxun and ends at Meijiabang in Zhenze, with a total length of about 11.2 kilometers and a third-level waterway improvement level, which started on October 18, 2021, and the main construction content includes bank protection engineering, channel dredging, berthing area transformation, etc.

At the beginning of the project, the project team faced a number of challenges. Due to the fact that the revetment pile foundation of the project adopts the form of row piles, the visual quality and revetment quality of the revetment structure are greatly affected by the alignment and verticality control accuracy of the row pile position, and are subject to the complexity of the pile sinking environment on the water, and the conventional positioning guide frame is difficult to fix on the shore, and the flexibility and ergonomics are poor. To this end, the project team used HW400 steel to make a guide frame with high stiffness, good stability and matching the engineering pile foundation. At the same time, with a set of pulley locking device, the displacement of the wall retaining pile is effectively limited, so as to ensure the stability and aesthetics of the bank revetment pile foundation construction.

Due to the large number of high-voltage lines along the waterway, and the clearance height between the piling operation area and the high-voltage line is insufficient, the construction of wall retaining piles cannot be adopted. On the premise of ensuring construction safety and taking into account economic benefits, the project team adopted the construction technology of bored pile short section reinforcement cage. At the same time, according to the location and requirements of the high-voltage line, the construction operation area is reasonably planned, and a safety cordon is set up. The construction personnel re-measured the clearance height between the pile driver and the high-voltage line many times, and used drones to conduct real-time monitoring to ensure the accuracy of the clearance height. In addition, a positioning excavator ship is also set up as a second line of protection to ensure that the pile driver and the high-voltage line are always kept at a safe distance during construction.

The traditional cap beam construction technology often uses steel pipe erection bracket to lay the bottom mold, but due to the different water levels at the construction site, the erection process of the traditional bracket is cumbersome, and the work efficiency is low. The project team designed a reusable formwork bracket structure, which eliminates the turnover link of bed die bracket installation and disassembly, greatly shortens the construction period of the cap beam, reduces labor consumption, and significantly improves the construction efficiency of the cap beam.

At present, the process has obtained 1 utility model patent and won the first prize of the 2022 Suzhou Transportation Construction Project "Micro Innovation" Competition. At the same time, the construction method has also been recognized as a second-level construction method by the China Water Transport Construction Industry Association. This achievement was listed as a provincial quality engineering model task, and compiled into the "Technical Guide for the Construction of Prefabricated Cap Beams for Waterway Engineering", which provides valuable technical reference for similar projects.

The project team attaches great importance to green environmental protection work. The dredging volume of the project reached 209,000 square meters, and the spoil area was scattered, making it difficult to control it. After many scientific experiments, the mud solidification and improvement process was finally adopted, and the silt was improved into green planting soil, which replaced the purchased planting soil in the original revetment plan, which not only realized the utilization of spoil, but also saved a lot of land, improved the resource utilization efficiency, and achieved significant social and economic benefits.

The project has effectively introduced advanced safety management concepts and technologies, realized the dual guarantee of construction quality and safety level, successfully created a safe, stable and harmonious construction environment, and the quality of design, construction and completion has also been widely recognized and praised by the industry, and has successively won the honorary titles of "Provincial Safe Construction Site", "Advanced Collective of Suzhou Trunk Waterway Key Project", "2023 Jiangsu Highway and Water Transport Safety Centennial Quality Project" and so on.

After the completion of the project, the traffic capacity of the Changhu Shen Line has been significantly improved, and the transportation of goods and trade has become more efficient, convenient and safe, which has effectively promoted the prosperity and development of the region's social economy. At the same time, the project improves the local water quality and ecological environment, protects the diversity of aquatic organisms, provides a better living environment for residents, and provides solid support for the sustainable development of the construction of "water transport Jiangsu".
